You will be greeted warmly and offered a drink, then your stylist will sit down for a proper conversation about you and your wedding before going anywhere near the dresses. From there she selects gowns for you to try, helps you into each one, and never watches the clock. If you find your dress, there will be champagne. If you do not, that is completely fine too. Who to bring
This is the question we are asked most, and our honest answer is: keep it small, and keep it to people whose opinion you genuinely trust. One or two is ideal — a mum, a sister, a best friend. We can accommodate up to four guests, but our gently offered advice is to be selective. Large groups, however well-meaning, can introduce competing voices at a moment when you really need to hear your own. Whoever you bring, make sure they are there to support you — not to find the dress they would choose for themselves.
When you arrive

Before you go near the dresses, your stylist will sit down for a genuine get-to-know-you chat: your wedding, your venue, your vision, what you love and what you definitely do not, what you have been drawn to online and what you have been avoiding. Gemma, one of our senior stylists, describes it as understanding the whole person, not just the measurements — “It’s a passion, not a job,” she has said more than once. Nicola is known for her patience and encyclopaedic knowledge of how dresses work on different figures, and Lyndsey has an extraordinary ability to pull something a bride never would have chosen herself and watch her fall in love with it.
Trying dresses on
Once your stylist has a feel for what suits you, she will begin selecting dresses. You do not need a list of styles memorised or a mood board perfected — just show up open-minded. She will help you into each dress, which is a normal part of the process, and the dressing rooms are spacious and private with nobody watching a clock. As Jemma told us, “Nothing was rushed at all, and she took the time to get to know us and listened carefully.” And the dress you say yes to is frequently not the one you arrived thinking you wanted. Beth came in nervous: “Lyndsey ended up finding me a dress that I did not originally pick, and I fell in love with it.”
The yes moment — and if it doesn’t happen yet
If you find your dress, there will be bubbles — proper champagne, a proper celebration, because saying yes is genuinely worth marking. Sarah Seaman arrived feeling out of her comfort zone and left a delighted customer; that arc, nervous in and happy out, is one we see almost every day. And if you do not find it on the first visit, that is completely fine. There is no pressure to buy, ever. One practical thing: come wearing underwear you feel comfortable in, and if you have a heel height in mind, bring shoes that approximate it — both help you get a truer sense of each dress.
